Why Diets Don’t Last

Ever wondered why it is so hard to stay on a diet? General diet instructions, unsustainable restrictions, and focus on short-term results are culprits. These restrictions lack customization to individual circumstances and likes. As a result, diets eventually feel like deprivations leading to relapse. Our self-control muscle gets weary of suppressing what makes us satisfied.

If you want to change how you eat for the long haul, it helps to build awareness of your eating habits and then work to replace the unhealthy ones. Observe and journal what you consume and what triggers unhealthy indulgence. Next, perform healthier food replacements with foods that satisfy you.

To make lasting changes to how you eat, it helps to personalize the process around your eating patterns, and it also helps to have the freedom to choose healthier food replacements. When we are satisfied, we are unlikely to feel deprived, and we can sustain new eating habits.

Eating habits are powerful and replacing them will undoubtedly take time. We essentially have to rewire how our brain works, and the brain changes slowly. Patience and diligence are keys to succeeding in the long run. Remember, slow and steady wins the race.
