Befriend Yourself for a Successful Weight Loss

What we say to ourselves is very powerful.  Often, these thoughts or words become self-fulfilling prophesy.

Weight loss is not limited to diet and exercise.  The psychological aspect of weight loss is equally as important.  Our beliefs drive our actions and results.  When our inner critic takes over, it amplifies negativity, making us doubt ourselves and feel inadequate.  Phrases like “I will never lose this weight”, can undermine the success of our efforts to achieve weight loss.

Positive self-talk is important in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.  Be understanding, kind, patient, and forgiving of yourself, just like you would a friend. Befriend yourself. Weight loss journeys will have their obstacles, and these challenges offer valuable discoveries and learning opportunities when we reframe them.  Persistence is key to building a resilient mindset that is essential for navigating the challenges of weight loss.  When you believe in your ability to succeed, you are more likely to stay committed to your goals fostering a sense of self- worth and motivation.

Therefore, the next time you encounter a setback in your weight loss journey, practice self-compassion.  Learn and grow from the experience.  Befriend yourself and persist. Quiet your inner critic by reminding yourself that setbacks are part of the process and keep moving forward.
