My 3-H Coaching Approach

My 3-H Coaching Approach™ facilitates you to build and sustain healthy habits. This approach includes holistic care, habit-based intervention, and hope.

How the 3-H Coaching Approach™ works

The three parts of the 3-H Coaching Approach™ — holistic care, habit intervention, and hope– work synergistically to make changes happen and long lasting. With a positive outlook (hope), clients are motivated and ready to embark on the change journey. A comprehensive look at key life aspects (holistic care) facilitates change not only in the client desired areas but also in the unsuspected areas that will support the client’s goals. Lastly, to sustainably change undesired habits, habit intervention is used to reprogram the brain.

Hope

Hope, encouragement, optimism, and support are essential to helping you make lifestyle changes.

I believe hope is essential for change. When you expect success, it motivates you to stay the course, and to be resilient when things get tough. Studies show that positive emotions encourage you to pursue healthy habits and are associated with stronger immunity, better sleep, less alcohol use, and better food choices.

I consistently encourage clients to be hopeful about the future and to stay on track. Change takes time and requires patience, effort and resilience, especially in the beginning. I am dedicated to inspiring clients to be optimistic and expect success!

Holistic care improves your health by targeting key life aspects that are often overlooked in general health and wellness practices.

I provide highly personalized and holistic care using the six pillars of lifestyle medicine. Key areas, like sleep, diet, and exercise affect your overall health, but other factors that often get overlooked such as stress and emotional wellbeing also determine how well you succeed with making healthy changes. As we pursue your personal goal in one key area, we will evaluate and realign other areas to support your progress.

Take for example a client desiring to lose weight, who I also discover suffers from chronic stress and poor sleep. Poor sleep negatively impacts your metabolism, energy, mood, and focus. So, unlike many diets that would only focus on what the client eats, I would additionally help the client establish better sleeping habits and stress management skills for weight management.

Habit Intervention

Habit intervention changes poor habits from their root causes for lasting transformation.

Let’s be real; changing habits is not easy. Habits are subconscious and hardwired in our brains. They run on autopilot, and we reinforce them daily, making the behaviors even stronger. It often requires much attention, effort, and energy to prepare, start and sustain new behavior. Habits are designed to change slowly.

Habit intervention focuses on breaking undesirable habits that hinder your wellness goals and helps you build new habits that facilitate progress. Habit intervention practices allow us to work together and study your habit cycles and learn your triggers and responses. For example, let’s say you have a goal of reducing your high blood sugar but also have a habit of drinking sodas daily. We would work to discover what cycles and triggers lead you to drink soda and gradually replace this habit with an alternative solution that fits your lifestyle and your health goals.

With habit intervention, we will replace poor habits with new practices that work for you.
