Three Places to Find Hope for Healthy Habits

During these challenging times, you may be wondering where hope exists. Following the last blog, 3 Ways Hope Empowers Healthy Habits, here are three places where you can find this inspirational force.

Past Accomplishments. Previous achievements, whether similar or different to your current goals, are sources of hope. They affirm that you can navigate through challenges to win. For example, if you desire to start exercising, you can find hope from a past period when you regularly walked with a group or from a time when you completed a challenging home project. You can apply strategies that made you successful in these areas to your exercise goals. These can include reorganizing your schedule, securing help, and breaking big tasks into small goals.

Inspirational Connections. People who encourage you and support your goals regularly provide you hope. They could be family members, friends, mentors, coaches, support groups, healthcare providers, religious leaders, etc. Inspirational connections motivate you to persevere during challenging times, securing your enthusiasm, focus, and direction. They can also help you with accountability. As a Health and Wellness Coach, I encourage my clients to be hopeful to facilitate progress.

Faith in God. Christianity teaches its followers to persevere during tough times and to proceed during uncertainties. A core belief in Christianity is that God leads you to success, whether through an easy or difficult path. God works out everything for good in the end. Christianity instills hope in people to act on their goals and be resilient. Practicing the Christian faith encourages effort and the expectation to succeed when victory is not predictable.

Find hope from one or more of the places listed above to start and sustain healthy habits. These sources are also helpful in other areas of life, like work and relationships. I hope this article empowers you to take steps to improve your health and quality of life.
